Pest Management Solutions for Educational Facilities
Schools get pests where students eat, play and sleep: cafeterias, portables, athletic fields and, at colleges, residence halls. Florida Bug Control provides commercial pest control for K-12 schools, private schools, colleges and universities across Florida.
We use Integrated Pest Management (IPM). That means inspection and prevention first, and targeted treatment where it is needed. Our technicians work alongside your custodial, food service and maintenance staff and plan visits around the school day.
Pests Schools Deal With
Cafeterias and kitchens draw German cockroaches and flies. Palmetto bugs wander in from mulch beds and storm drains, especially after heavy rain. Roof rats and mice nest in ceilings, storage rooms and portable classrooms. Fire ants build mounds on playgrounds and athletic fields, and wasps nest under eaves and bleachers. Residence halls can get bed bugs that arrive in luggage and used furniture.
These are more than a nuisance. Cockroaches and rodents can contaminate food and surfaces, and cockroach allergens are a known asthma trigger in children. Fire ant stings are a real problem on fields where kids sit and play.
How Inspection and Service Work
We start with a walk-through of the buildings and grounds. The technician checks kitchens, loading areas, dumpster pads, restrooms, storage rooms, portables, outside walls and fields. They note where pests are active, where they hide, and what is drawing them in. From that we build a written service plan listing the areas covered and how often we visit.
- Visits before or after classes, on weekends, or during breaks
- Recommendations on sealing gaps, door sweeps, drains and food storage
- Practical notes for custodial and kitchen staff on cleanup and storage
- A report to your designated contact after every visit on what was found and treated
Summer break is a good window for heavier work. It also lines up with the start of Florida’s rainy season, when ants and roaches push indoors.
