Pest Control in Kendall, FL

Pest Control in Kendall, FL

Kendall is a large suburban area in southwest Miami-Dade County, with family neighborhoods, apartments and shopping centers. Florida Bug Control provides residential and commercial pest control for homes and businesses in and around Kendall.

What Keeps Pests Busy in Kendall

Kendall packs a lot of apartment complexes, townhome communities and strip shopping centers into a large suburban area, and that density shapes its pest problems. In multi-unit buildings, German roaches travel between units through shared plumbing walls, electrical boxes and garbage rooms, so one neglected apartment can seed an entire building. Turnover along busy corridors like Kendall Drive and US 1 near Dadeland Mall, plus student renters near the Miami Dade College Kendall Campus, means used furniture and moving boxes come and go constantly, which is how bed bugs often arrive.

Kendall is also crossed by canals, including the Snapper Creek canal, and many planned communities like Kendall Lakes and The Hammocks were built around lakes. Those banks hold water after afternoon storms and support mosquitoes and midges through the wet season. The restaurants and grocery stores clustered in shopping plazas draw Norway rats to dumpster pads and loading areas, and those rats sometimes follow canal banks and hedgerows into nearby backyards when the weather cools in winter.

Kendall Neighborhoods We Serve

We work throughout Kendall, from the Dadeland area and Kendall Drive corridor west to Kendall Lakes, Kendale Lakes and The Hammocks, and around Baptist Hospital and Miami Executive Airport. We also cover the neighboring communities on our Country Walk, Cutler Bay and Miami pages.

Roach-Proofing an Apartment or Townhome

Most roaches in Kendall apartments come from the walls you share, not from outside. Seal the gaps where pipes enter the wall under your kitchen and bathroom sinks with caulk or foam. Keep the cabinet under the sink dry and free of grocery bags and cardboard, which roaches use for shelter. Take trash out every night, and if you see roaches, tell building management so neighboring units can be treated at the same time.

South Florida’s heat and humidity never really let up, so pests stay active all year. Small ants trail into kitchens and bathrooms, palmetto bugs come in from drains and landscaping, roof rats travel along palm trees and power lines into attics, and mosquitoes breed after every rain.
