Pest Control in Wellborn, FL

Wellborn is a small community in Suwannee County between Live Oak and Lake City. Florida Bug Control provides residential and commercial pest control for homes and businesses in and around Wellborn.

Pest Pressure in Wellborn’s Woods and Pastures

Wellborn is a quiet community in eastern Suwannee County, strung along US 90 roughly halfway between Live Oak and Lake City. Homes here sit on large lots and acreage, many of them backing up to planted pine, hardwood hammocks or open pasture. That woods line is where a lot of Wellborn’s indoor pests start out. Wood roaches wander in under doors on warm summer nights, wolf spiders follow them, and in late summer and fall, field crickets gather by the hundreds under porch lights and slip in through garage doors.

Wellborn has a mix of site-built houses and manufactured homes, and many properties include a well pump house, storage sheds and outbuildings. Torn skirting, loose vapor barriers and the sheltered space under a home give mice an easy winter shelter, and they give black widow spiders the quiet, undisturbed corners they prefer, especially around pump houses, water heaters and stacked storage. From July into the fall, paper wasps build under eaves and carports while yellowjackets nest in the ground along fence rows, where a mower can set off a whole colony.

Where We Work Around Wellborn

We serve homes throughout Wellborn and the surrounding countryside of eastern Suwannee County, from properties along US 90 to the farms and wooded tracts north toward Interstate 10 and south of the highway. Wellborn sits between two of our larger service areas: Live Oak to the west and Lake City to the east across the Columbia County line, so neighbors on either side of the county line are covered too.

Keeping Pests Out From Under Skirted Homes

• Walk the skirting every few months and patch holes or loose panels, since a gap the width of a pencil is enough for a young mouse.
• Keep the crawl area under the home clear of stored boxes and lumber, which shelter spiders and mice.
• Make sure the vapor barrier lies flat and that dryer vents and AC lines are sealed where they pass through.
• Switch exterior bulbs to yellow or warm LED lights to draw fewer crickets to the door.

Rivers, springs, farmland and wooded lots make this part of North Florida a busy place for pests. Fire ants build mounds in yards and pastures, mosquitoes breed near the river and low ground after rain, ticks wait in tall grass and woods, and mice and rats move into homes and barns when nights turn cool.
