Sawtoothed Grain Beetle Infestations
Sawtoothed Grain beetles are stored product pests, attracted to pantries and cupboards where the pests lay eggs directly on or near dried grains to ensure the larva will have food to survive. Sawtoothed grain beetles are often confused with a closely related species, the less common merchant grain beetle. Identified by the six saw-like teeth found on either edge of their pronotum, the structure behind their head. Unlike other types of stored product pests that prefer whole grains and nuts, Sawtoothed grain beetles prefer broken or cracked kernels and ground-up grains.
