Stable Fly Infestations

Stable flies are a filth fly with worldwide medical and veterinary importance. They are blood feeders that primarily attack cattle and horses for blood meals; however, in the absence of these animal hosts, stable flies will bite people and dogs. So, if there is livestock around, stable flies will generally not bite people. Infestations originate outside, near where livestock congregate, where they breed in moist organic matter.
